Norway: Small derby with lot of tension.

After many years in lower leagues Mjøndalen is finally back in the top of Norwegian football this season where they now got the chance to play against their main rival Strømsgodset.

It's only 8 kilometers between the two clubs which are located just outside the Norwegian capital Oslo. The hate between fans of these clubs is impressive and it all started back in 1933!

Before kick-off fans of Strømsgodset organized a corteo to the stadium. Both clubs displayed tifo when players entered the pitch. Fans of Strømsgodset also used illegal pyro during this match.

When Strømsgodset scored the winning goal in 92nd minute fans invaded the pitch and celebrated with their players!

Attendance: 4 100 spectators. 625 away fans, but probably 500 more in other sectors. Sold-put stadium.

Short story about this derby

Both clubs were founded more than 100 years ago and they are located only 8km between each others.

Already in 1933 the rivalry started when the best Strømgodset player went to Mjøndalen. The fan bases usually came from different fabrics along the Drammen river and both clubs had periods with success. In the 30's Mjøndalen the cup several times and did well in the Norwegian league too.

Strømdgodset had their good period in the 70's when also they won the league and cup, they even played against Liverpool and Arsenal during this time.

End of the 60's was the last good period for Mjøndalen. They got second place in the league, but played against Bayer Munchen and even won against Werder Bremen in Germany. After that the club nearly disappeared in the lower divisions. After several years in Norwegian 4th level, they started to climb up in 2007 and which they in 2014 managed to get promoted to the top league.
