Lower leagues can also be fun!
Our friend from Groundhopping Etc sent us this report:
Union II defeat Zwickau 2:1 (1:0) in front of about 300 spectators. Everything worth mentioning in the first half happened right at the beginning: Union scored 14 seconds into the match, and right after that, riots broke out in the away end.
Zwickau fans had moved out of their allocated into a sealed off area of the ground. When security went to have a word, they got attacked right away, as one of them later said. The bruise on his forehead seemed a solid piece of evidence. It got uglier, and a police unit (that had just completed basic training) moved in.
After this kerfuffle, the away fans regrouped and stayed in the section they had conquered, but were surrounded by cops. The police dogs kept joining in the songs that now emerged from under the roof and never really stopped.
Zwickau equalized late in the second half and were close to scoring another one, but it was Union who put the ball in the back of the net a second time right before the end. After the final whistle, police moved back into the away end and everybody had to submit to identification procedures with the police who tried to find those who attacked the stewards in the beginning.
